Dayton's Halloween Activities
Trick or Treat! While it’s easy to be fond of walking the kids around in their costumes while they have a blast getting candy, or even answering the door to serve costumed local kids their treats, there is so much more to Halloween than trick or treating. We are lucky in Dayton to have ample opportunities for you and your family to thoroughly enjoy your Halloween nearby.
Below you’ll find some spectacular places to visit and activities to do that are sure to give you a scare and satisfy your sweet tooth too. There’s nothing like a Dayton Halloween!
Pumpkin Picking at Young’s Jersey Dairy

The classic jack-o-lantern is a hallmark of the Halloween holiday. Carving it can be messy, but it really gives kids a time to express their creativity while up excitement for trick or treating. It’s easy to go to a big box store and get pumpkins there, but at Young’s Jersey Dairy, pumpkin picking is an event. There you and your family can pick the perfect pumpkins for you to carve. And that’s not all. There are also wagon rides (either haunted or through the farm), and a corn maze. It’s a fall adventure and at Young’s Jersey Dairy, an excellent place to make your Halloween season more memorable.
Tom’s Maze

Are there problem solvers in your family? Even if there aren’t, there’s something for everyone at Tom’s Maze. The main attraction is an 8 acre corn maze that’s sure to keep you and your family thinking, having fun, and enjoying a puzzling, crisp fall walk. There are so many more activities at Tom’s Maze that there are too many to list! Among our favorites are goats, mazes of different difficulties, and a massive sunflower garden for pictures. Don’t forget the pumpkins: you can get your Halloween pumpkins here too, just not picked from the vine. Tom’s Maze is not far away in Germantown- a destination for fall family fun.
Land Of Illusion

Land of Illusion is the perfect spot for your older children. We think it’s also a fun date spot, spicier than the usual dinner. All adults will love the Land of Illusion. Watching horror movies is a thrill, but what about being in one? That’s what you get when you go to a haunted house, a live-action experience that’s sure to shiver your spine. Land of Illusion is worth the drive to Middletown with its 6 haunted houses. If you’re feeling up to it, you can even hit more than one in a night!
Lewisberg Haunted Cave

This is another pleaser for the adults and older children, as it is definitely scary. With all the bats they have, you’ll be sure that Dracula is somewhere lurking in the shadows. In fact, Lewisberg Haunted Cave has over 30,000 live bats. Lewisberg Haunted Cave has also won the Guinness Book of World Records prize for longest cave. Real caves are scary enough on their own, but we think the festive upgrades they add make for an amazing time. It’s definitely worth the trip to Lewisberg for the Lewisberg Haunted Cave.
