Multipoint Inspection

Vehicle maintenance can be overwhelming sometimes and it feels like there are many concerns that can fall through the cracks. A multipoint inspection helps keep you aware of everything you need to know when it comes to the health of your vehicle.

Why a Multipoint Inspection is Important

Much like a checkup at the doctor’s office, a multipoint inspection acts as an in-depth inspection of your vehicle to create a comprehensive health profile of all the components in your vehicle. This inspection serves to evaluate even the smallest components of your car so that you can address and repair any problems before they grow bigger and more expensive.

When You Should Get a Multipoint Inspection

It is recommended that you get a multipoint inspection every 1-3 years. For a more specific guideline, your Owner’s Manual will give you a recommendation from your vehicle’s manufacturer on how often you should get one.

Many people choose to get them done every couple of years as part of their routine maintenance plan or during special circumstances, such as right before they buy a pre-owned vehicle, right before a long road trip, or when the seasons change.

The Multipoint Inspection Process

Step 1

The engine comes first - this can include examining the motor oil and filter, coolant, brake fluid, brake lines, power steering fluid, cabin air filter, drive belts, hoses, battery, windshield washer fluid, and more.

Step 2

Next are the interior, exterior, and safety equipment. This includes interior lights, headlights and taillights, windshield wiper blades, floor mats, AC, seat belts, airbags, horns, brakes, and more.

Step 3

The next step is the drivetrain and suspension, including engine performance, transmission, clutch, differential and transfer case, driveshaft, U-joints, CV joints, exhaust system, shocks, struts, springs, ball joints and bushings, tire alignment, tires, and more.

Step 4

Once everything is examined, the technician will report their findings to you, informing you of components that need repair immediately, soon, or not at all.
